Otoplasty
Otoplasty, commonly referred to as ear pinning, corrects the size or placement of an individual’s ears. Otoplasty is generally performed on children and adults. Good otoplasty makes the ears more proportional to the size and shape of the head and face.

To perform the surgery, I would make an incision behind the ear, in the fold where it joins to the head. Otoplasty usually involves the removal of cartilage and skin, and sometimes I will trim the cartilage into a more pleasing shape, pinning it with permanent sutures. Otoplasty patients will report a mild discomfort that is comfortably treated with Tylenol and usually subsides within a few days.

This is not only one of the most cosmetically satisfying procedures performed in our specialty but also is the most enduring as it should last a life time.
